Perched adjacent to a college campus in a small agricultural community, the State Nebraska Bank Campus Branch is an atypical typology. Responding to the client’s unique vision, the architects designed a drive through banking facility, speculative office space and a sports court within a singular 12,500 SF building to further the admirable community engagement efforts of the town’s 130-year-old family-owned bank. One enters the building below a floating canopy suspended in a wall of glass which connects the interior space to the college’s wooded amphitheater to the northeast, framing the view of the parklike setting. The central lobby is visually connected to the sports court and drive through banking center, creating a dynamic juxtaposition. The north and south wings of the second-floor tenant spaces are linked with a floating catwalk, also serving as a viewing platform for passing spectators. The sports court, located centrally, places the community component at the heart of the building.
